I've got another PR on another 5k training run...22:10.  My HR stayed lower at the slightly faster pace in similar conditions.   I am seeing the reality of a 7:00 pace coming for a race soon.  This has been a goal for over a year but last year my knee injury screwed me.  I don't think I'll have any problems with the pace given my training runs and the TT I did back in January.

I had a short swim last night.  The schedule at the pool is not right.  After the high school swim season ended I thought things would get much better.  They did get better, but now there are short gaps between lap times.  Like a half hour where there are no lanes available.  The bad part is that my work schedule only allows me to get off at certain times and the timing is always bad to get an hour or longer swim under my belt.  I got 50 minutes in last night with some speed work.  10x50 at 37 on a minute.  My first set I went in at 34 seconds but I started to get closer to the 37 after that one.

Training has sucked the past couple of weeks but it should get better after this weekend.  I'm gonna miss my second swim workout for the second week in a row.    SUCKS!

Well I knew I was getting faster but todays run tells me I can run with Ryan Hall for distance.  I ran on a treadmill at a hotel and ran about 5:15 miles (not a typo) for 32 minutes leaving me with around 6.3 miles.  Sounds gret to me but I could tell the treadmill was really far off during my warm up.  I set the mill for my usual walking to start the warm up pace and felt like I was crawling.  I checked another mill and it was the same way.

In the end I used my HR to guess an 8:00 pace and ran 32 minutes.  I should be real close to the correct mileage guess of about 4 miles.  Tomorrow is an 8 miler, I'm ready for some distances.

It looks like we have all been MIA for a little while. Nicer weather = more training = less computer time ... this is all good.

I have been working my routine and my bike fitness is coming back. I did a couple of longer bikes followed by short bricks over the weekend. Feeling strong!

I am thinking about doing a brick this weekend.  I haven't really done one before so I am not sure what to expect.  I know I will want to run as fast as I pedaled but that can't last long or I'll pass out.  I am scheduled for a run today and I don't want to miss it but I would like to get the feel for the transition from bike to run before my first Tri.

I finally got a 2 swim week in this week.  I haven't been able to get this in for a couple of weeks because the pool schedule SUCKS!  If it wasn't for the holiday week I wouldn't have gotten the second one in this week.

Newbz, I'm getting closer to buying a new wetsuit.  I have tried to find used stuff but it seems impossible.  I'll probably try another couple of weeks and then commit to something.

training is going well here, getting down to race weight, running is a bit lower right now as i have more quality runs and less overall volume, biking is slowly anf finally coming back up!

Nice pictures. I hope everyone had a nice holiday.

On Friday I was able to do a nice 50 mile bike and then a 5 mile run. The run was good - I was able to push are (but comfortable) at a 7:08 minute pace average (right at my marathon pace). Now if I can just keep that up for the full 13.1 miles at 70.3 NO.

all, the new mentor groups are starting up for april-june.

I am going to be starting a new group up with this round.

You guys have a few options if you want to stay involved.

-Join a new group and get some new ideas/people around
-Re-join mine and help make a new great group (i have a few people that have done this for 3 years)
-Start your own and help some people along their way.

-i'd say you can keep this one going but there are only 4 of us total left, so if you want to do that, just come join the new one.

Either way, if you decide to not be a part of one, good luck with upcoming races!!!!

I think I'd like to hang around in your group for at least another session.  It seems like it would give me some consitancy in my first couple of mentor groups.  I have learned a lot in this one and I hate to quit on a good thing.

I am out of town for a couple of days (actually this is my last night) for some training at work for something I have been doing for 10+ years, but thats a different story.  I have been able to get a good run in at one of the parks in the Columbus Ohio area (Blacklick) and a ride around Canal Winchester tonight.  Both sessions were really good for me.  Being out of the same old routine made for some good training.  I liked the ride tonight the most.  There was a large group ride leaving as I got into the area and I spent the first 6-8 miles trying to catch tha main pack.  I never did catch them but it kept me trying.  The wind was kind of fierce too.  It seemed like I couldn't get away from it except for the last 5-7 miles.  Then I was able catch the tailwind and start a good cruise.
