Swam 2000 tonight...  Good workout

200 warmup
4 x 100 breathing on 1 side per 50
2 x 300 pull bouy
2 x 300 pull bouy and hand paddles
4 x 50 free cool down

Spring break, so sleeping in a little later, so no excuse for not exercising in the morning.

Got up at 8:20, went for Waddle...  Not happy with it...  Waddle 2.5 minutes walk 30 seconds...  Waddle 4 minutes walk 30 seconds...  waddle some walk some...  repeat for 2 miles...  Felt like I was doing a Santa imitation, my belly was just jiggling the whole time, making me feel fatter then usual..  Funny thing is scale showed down 2 pounds...  Go figure....

Then I stretched for 30 minutes.  Very tight everywhere...  Does not take much to stretch to discomfort....

At least you are getting out there and trying!  That's way more than a lot of people.  Don't get discouraged - you are up to 2 miles.

Well really it's both. I need to pick up my distance and my speed.
I am just getting back into running for the most part. I did some right after the New Year and then stopped again. So honestly I haven’t been running for about 2 month now (truthfully I didn’t think taking that much time would have set me back so far). Anyway can you think of anything I can do to get back up to running well again?

Hi Mindy,
Just need to take the plunge and start again, however, take it slow to begin.  It's natural to want to start back where you left off, but too much too soon could result in injury.  I'm a big fan of intervals training, and that works well for getting back into running.  Run a certain time, walk a shorter time, run the same time, walk etc, for a set time or distance.  Decrease the walk interval each week until you are running the distance.  Then begin adding, only 10 percent increase each week.  Also, once comfortable you can begin to do speed intervals.

Looks like the mentor program has ended!  Steve, thanks for hanging in there until the end.  Let me know how the season goes, races etc.  I'll look forward to hearing how you ran the whole 5K.Smile
