Pre-race routine:

Check-In was easy, no race numbers since this was a free / un-official race. Found a rack with room for my bike and helmet.

Lots of socializing :)

Met with a local group, took pre-race group photo, etc. Ran into the wife of a co-worker who was out there to try and get motivated to start running.
Event warmup:

Did some light jogging
Run
  • 20m 26s
  • 2 miles
  • 10m 13s  min/mile
Comments:

Since this was a free race, everyone started at the same time. This led to some issues (slow pace / walking) once we hit the single track trails.
What would you do differently?:

If I was worried about a time, I would start closer to the front of the pack.
Transition 1
  • 01m 30s
Comments:

Pretty painless T1 since I was riding in my running shoes.
What would you do differently?:

Move my bike closer to the entrance/exit
Bike
  • 28m 35s
  • 7 miles
  • 14.69 mile/hr
Comments:

Rode my mountain bike with my running shoes. Leg felt fine after the run.
What would you do differently?:

I'd ride my road bike if I was worried about time.
Transition 2
  • 01m 34s
Comments:

Pretty painless T2 since I rode in my running shoes.
Run
  • 22m 20s
  • 2 miles
  • 11m 10s  min/mile
Comments:

Had to walk a little in the start of the run to loosen my back after the bike ride.

Started to get too hot running in warm-up pants, ended up stopping and taking them off about half way through the run.
What would you do differently?:

Strip off the pants at T2
Post race
Warm down:

Gathered my bike and rode it out to my truck. Walked / stretched my way back to the finish line.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of training

Event comments:

Can't beat the price :) Was a good, low key multi-sport race to start my Du/Tri racing.
