Subject: RE: 9 speed to 10 speed conversion Rocknfire - 2010-01-19 8:12 PM Thanks. Until I can afford a new wheelset, It sounds like swapping cassettes will be easy enough and I already have the spacer. I have thought about building the triathlon bike as a 9-speed, but also thought it would be nice to have a 10-speed for some of the hills I ride around here. A ten speed cassette doesn't necessarily give you extra gearing, that depends on the cassette that you are running. If you are running out of gear, then look at your cassette and get one with a bigger big cog. The common cassette sizes are available in both 9 and 10 speed (and going backward, in 8, 7, ... ) they just have an extra cog in the mix. Shane |
