Hi everyone!

very new and almost zero knowledge on everything!

I am trying to do a comeback in terms of phisique and body health and balance and i have to say that i started loving biking!

From a fully fit 210 lbs, ex canoe kayak athlete and fitness body building and after a tremendous knee injury, i increased my weight to almost 270 lbs, 2 year ago...
Currently i am down to 225 lbs and my main exercise is biking!

For the time being i am using a Mongoose Pro Rambler single diamond with road tires from Specialized for my winter training and i am waiting for my 2010 Specialized Transition Comp with full Dura-Ace 7900 components for my road training and race bike...

I am already exercising with heart monitor, logging exercises, eating much better and targeting to drop another 20 pounds or so...

I am a great swimmer also but i am not sure how i am going to deal with running... Time will tell!

Thats my story and hope to learn and become healthier with the help of the community!

Welcome to BT!  Your going to love it here.  There are tons of great people on this site that can help you with whatever you need.  Being a great swimmer puts you in a position many of us would love to be in.  It's going to be cool to see what happens when your new bike gets there and you start running.  Enjoy it.  Make sure you ask as many questions as you want because someone will always answer.  If you're not into asking just watch the Triathlon Talk page and sooner or later someone will ask the question you're thinking about.

One question....Yankees or Mets?

For running, check out one of the "Couch to 5k" training programs to give you an idea of how long it takes and the kind of training needed.  If you've never really run before, look up Galloway's training programs - he highly recommends mixing running and walking ("Gallowalking"), and it seems to work for a lot of people.  Start slow - its gonna be tough for the first few days until your body gets used to it.

Where in NY are you?

Hey Kenj - Are you doing the Ironman 70.3 in Syracuse this September? It's about time a high profile race came to our neck of the woods, eh? : ) (I'm from Syracuse).

Thanks guys!

I am located in Bayside Queens.

Yankees or Mets? Neither! HAHAHAHA i am not really into baseball or even football...

I follow anything with wheels! Thus my affection with biking! lol

I am monstly into motorsports. MY other toy is a 700+ hp Lancer Evolution!

I started reading as much as i can in order to catch up in certain things like training, equipment, etc...

As far as swimming is concerned, i was born and raised in Greece. The weather is almost always nice and you can actually swim all year round if you dont mind 3-4 cold months, but definitely you can get 8 good months of swimming...As far as endourance is concerned i have pushed my body before beyond sanity levels when i served for 2 years. In Greece army service is mandatory and i was a Green Beret... OF course that was 10 years ago but i know hard! LOLThanks again for the comments!
