Swim
What would you do differently?: Always more swim training to be stronger / faster but in this race not really much differently. Transition 1
Comments: The bike and run transition were all counted in the bike section. The first one took me around 20 minutes including the 200m run to the bike. What would you do differently?: Not much other than practice getting on the bike a bit more Bike
Comments: Very strong wind - felt comfortable on the bike - had to keep to easy gear due to sore hip / back - just wasn't strong enough to go to a higher gear. What would you do differently?: More training Transition 2
Comments: New elastic laces were probably a bit too tight so a bit of a struggle to get them on. What would you do differently?: More running in laces prior to event Run
Comments: I really struggled on the run - it was very hot and windy. What would you do differently?: I had a few weeks off running after SIJ Injections and this really showed in the run - didn't feel strong at all despite the 4 or 5 brick sessions I did in the couple of months leading up. Post race
Warm down: Walking around the event area. What limited your ability to perform faster: Injuries throwing running training off track plus I need more time on the bike. AHR throughout the event was 187 MHR was 200 so I worked hard but lack of training due to injury hindered me. Event comments: The atmosphere is great at this event and I will do it again next year. Up super early on next to no sleep, coffee & out the door.
1 hour drive to event so eat energy bar and some powerade on the way.
