Subject: RE: sprint 2 weeks before my first half IM?You'll be fine.
I am a big proponent of short races to prepare for a half. You'll feel more confident in your racing and better prepared for your transitions. The only things that the sprint won't really prepare you for very well is pacing the half and your nutritional needs for the longer distance. You'll learn those things in your first few halfs over the years. Although I think an optimal plan would be to do the last sprint 3-4 weeks before, the sprint race 2 weeks before is ok. The idea of a taper before your half IM is to be well-rested and "springy" for that race and the sprint should allow you time for that if you remove other hard sessions already scheduled for that week.
