Got up at 6:50 AM, had my usual All Bran w/ whey protein & milk, banana, and a coffee. Got to the event at 8:10, picked up my number, chip, and then got ready.

Comments:

This was my first "race" so it was for more of a learning experience. My goal was to finish in 18 min, my I beat that with a 16:45 finish. Felt good afterwards.
What would you do differently?:

Start in mid pack instead of the rear. I got held up a few times and probably lost 5 secs.
