Total Time = 1h 15m 34s
Overall Rank = 43/476
Age Group = 50-54
Age Group Rank = 3/23
Pre-race routine:

Normally I would take a short spin and a run, but today I spent my morning trying to decide if I should race with two different wheels. I had my race wheels on my bike but the front tire went flat as I was topping it off. Couldn't get the sealer to stop the leak so I stuck with my Bontrager Carbon on the rear and put my everyday wheel back on the front.
Event warmup:

A short, short spin in my sandals.
Swim
  • 10m 11s
  • 600 yards
  • 01m 42s / 100 yards
Comments:

I'm a little too busy on the swim. Need to find a groove like I do on the run. I'm too busy sighting, dodging others, blah blah blah. Need to just go!
Transition 1
  • 01m 12s
Bike
  • 42m 51s
  • 15 miles
  • 21.00 mile/hr
Comments:

Was holding 24-28 mph on the ride to the turnaround. Very little wind, but it was just enough for a healthy boost. At the turnaround, it was more uphill coming back with a slight headwind, Held about a steady 20 mph.
Transition 2
  • 00m 51s

Smooth
Run
  • 20m 30s
  • 3.13 miles
  • 06m 34s  min/mile
Comments:

I felt GREAT on the run. Charged through the pack as though there had been no swim or bike preceeding.
Post race
Warm down:

Water, bananas

Event comments:

This race received high accolades in Inside Triathlon last year as among one of the best sprints in the country. It's well organized and a great venue with nice ditty bags. Had fun meeting Carrie (CLLinIA) and her husband and son. She had a great race! I was very pleased with my race. Shaved 5 mins off last year's time and moved up 33 places overall.

Kevin~ Congratulations! You did VERY well! Your run time as usual was top-notch! Bike was fast too. Ok, even the swim was good and the only event where I would agree that there is room for improvement, but you still kicked some major boo-tay there!
3rd in your AG, you should be very proud!!!
Nicely done!!

I hadn't seen the AG podium place - terrific job! And great improvement over last year! It sounds like we're both singing the same tune though: "I did so well ... I wish I'd done better." Looking forward to Dutchman next weekend. It's completely no pressure for me since it's my first Oly and I'm just interested in finishing. And my mom will be watching me do a tri for the first time.

What sort of result are you aiming for? It's fun to have someone higher up the rankings to root for!
