Comments:

I am a month away from Boston. I ran a 1:25:45 here last year and wanted to better that. 1:20 was a goal WAY in the back of my mind.
Mile 1 6:22 noticed a few guys around me who I had seen before. One I felt was faster than me and one who had beaten me at the tape in a 5k last year(Felipe). I let the faster guy go ahead as not to go out too fast.
Mile 2 6:47 Uh oh, maybe too slow. Gotta pick it up although most of mile 2 was uphill.
Mile 3 6:30 Downhill. Still with the Felipe. Gotta pick it up a little
Mile 4 6:19 Better. Ditch my gloves
Mile 5 6:13 Rain starts hammering. Wish I hadn't ditched gloves
Mile 6 6:24 Still holding a good pace. Here we meet the leaders already thru mile 8. Rain hammering. Getting colder
42:17 halfway
Mile 7 6:18 Still with Felipe-man his footsteps are loud in these puddles
Mile 8 6:19 Here, we turn into a stiff headwind with the rain still pounding.
Mile 9 6:29 Headwind blowing hard. I start getting a sidestitch
Mile 10 6:22 Finally pull away from Felipe. Start to push hard to get under 1:24 Rain hammering. Hands very cold.
Mile 11 6:20 Feeling strong now with less headwind. Pass a guy.
Mile 12 6:23 Gotta keep pushing. Pass another guy. Sub 1:24 in reach
Mile 13 6:18 Pass a girl. Push through to finish. Rain hammering down
  • 1 :39
  • 2nd half 41:34
    Total 1:23:51

Man was I glad to be finished. Dried off, changed clothes and shivered while cheering a few finishers on. Very happy with this race considering the conditions.
    What would you do differently?:

Not much. Maybe go out a little faster.
    Post race
    Warm down:

Starbucks and man was it good. Hot shower.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

    Wind.

    Event comments:

I have done this race 4 or 5 times and I love it. Small enough to not be crowded but big enough to offer all you need.
