So who else is doing this race?  Has anyone ridden the Paris mountain climb they talk about?  And I get the impression you run up the same hill you bike up???  Crazy.

It's going to be ugly for sure.

Paris Mountian is in my back yard and definitely a great ride. From memory the climb is 2.2 miles with 800+ feet of climbing. The rest of the ride isn't exactly a walk in the park either. The tricky part, I think is going to be the descent. First turn after the summit is a tight 180. The rest is fast. 40mph easy...

After returning to the transition area the run starts. It's not the same part of the mountain but it IS on the mountain, and IS nasty as well.

Have fun!

The easy part is the climb. The descent on a tri-bike during a race is going to be exciting. I have done the ride on windy days and it can get a little hairy. Hopefully they will clean off the loose stones and gravel before the race.

Has anybody checked the water temp in the lake. I'm sure it will be wetsuit legal but I'm wondering if a full suit and hood might be needed.

Has anyone received any details on the race from the RD yet?  All I have is what's on the web site, which doens't even list what time it starts.  I'd also like to know what time the transition area opens/closes, TT swim start info, support for the bike/run info...but there's nothing????  Did I miss something??

Whens the last time you checked?  I'm not sure if it hadn't been updated yet (it was just updated today) or if you missed this.

Starts at 8AM.

I received an e-mail about the water temp. It should be around 70 degrees. Weather should be nice.

Weather should be perfect! The climb on the 2.2 mile portion is a little over 1,000 feet, I think. The run has 668 feet of elevation IN THE FIRST 2.5 MILES! That's right boys! This is going to be a doozie! I'm not going to race this, per se, but rather calculate this as a training day for Clemson.

TA should be open by 5:30a or so, I think. I know JD will be there nice and early.

See y'all there!

For those not racing, where would be a good place to watch?  Folks who know the course can maybe point out a few good places?

I would suggest the transition area as the best place to watch. The water tower going up Alta Mont might be a good place to see the riders struggling up the climb.

"EVENT T-SHIRTS
This event will be unique in that you will not get your event t-shirt until you cross the finish line.  The event shirt will say FINISHER across the back.  Any shirts not given out at the finish line to event finishers will be destroyed so only those who completed the event will be able to wear the 2010 Finisher Shirts."

Also a TT start. Does anyone know how the order will be selected or is it by race number?

"By race number based on given swim times. But really it doesn't matter. Number order unless somebody feels they are way off they can just duck in line."

Does anyone else find it ironic that at a "Mountain Triathlon" there was not a single mountain bike in the transition area especially since I spent more time a a mountain bike trail than I had expected.

I had my Garmin under my swim cap for the swim, and it looks like its around .23 miles or just under 375 meters...I knew my swim time was too good to be true.

THAT RACE ROCKED! I bit the dust on the trail toward the bottom and ended up with bloody knees! I think it added to the excitement! GREAT RACE!!!

Thanks...that explains my time as well.

Looking forward to another shot at this one next year. Undecided
