Forget Wildflower!  Who's in for Auburn?  This will be my first time.  Anyone have any tips?

Prepare for hills.

It's a great race. I'm looking forward to it.

Are you healed up from your accident last year?

I'm in, but unfortunately I cannot offer any first hand tips as it's my first time too.  A friend of mine who did it last year told me there is about 6000 ft of total elevation gain, even though it's more of a roller coaster ride than an epic Alpine climb Cool

Hi Scott.  Just read your RR (and your IMLP RR too).  6000' elevation sounds pretty intense.  19% DNF sounds pretty rough.  I guess it'll be good training for us for our IMs later in the year.

I'm pretty much healed up from Vineman although I have compression fractures in my T8 (probably from vineman) and T6 (something new this year).

It looks like it's going to be pleasantly cool on race day. Is everyone ready?

I'm ready enough.  Heat would have been okay with me, but cool is fine too.  I've been a little weary since wildflower, but I'm as ready as I'm going to be for the hills, etc.  How about you?  Anyone else out there?  I guess I should book a hotel soon...

I've been having some run issues, but overall I'm feeling pretty good.

I got a room at the Holiday Inn in Rocklin. It's a little closer to the swim start then Auburn.

glad it's gonna be relatively cool... cooler than last year if the forecasts are accurate.

I guess it was a little bit more than "relatively cooler" than last year.  Brrrr!

Scott, it was good seeing you during the run and talking with you after the race.

How was it for everyone?  That was definitely the toughest half I've done, much harder than wildflower (30 minutes longer on the bike).  Legs were toasted for the run.

Yeah, it was pretty brutal and cold.  But on a second thought, probably the cold made it less brutal than it would have been with temps in the 80s or 90s.  Funny that the water felt much warmer than the air

I would have strongly preferred the heat, but I do well in heat.  The water was at least 20 degrees warmer than the air.  it felt pretty balmy on the swim.  Very pleasant.
