....might not be quite what you're expecting on a triathlon forum!!!

Its a an Enigma Ethos, a handmade fillet brazed steel frame, made entirely in the UK and built as a traditional steel fast audax all-round bike. It has carbon forks and seatpost, full mudguards, clearance for 25c tyres and is a gorgeous steel frame that just eats up the miles. Fitted with Campag Centaur and some handmade wheels its a joy to ride. Its just waiting for a Brooks Swift titanium saddle tomorrow and then will be finished....for a while. All in, it was just 1.5lbs heavier than my Look 386!

It was built for a review in a national UK cycling mag, so had a few miles on it from some cycling journo's and I got it a great deal without having to wait for it to be built. It just happened to be in my perfect size as well - fate!

I rode it at the factory on Saturday, immediately brought it home and rode a 60 mile sportive on Sunday. Left my Look carbon at home and loved every minute of it. Having ridden some of their titanium and steel frames I am absolutely hooked on the feel of steel, after all these years on alu and carbon frames. All I need now is enough cash to add one of their XCR framed race bikes to the stable as well - maybe next year!

I give you......Ethos

It was about 21.5lbs including mudguards IIRC, before I added the saddle bag for the first ride, so pretty reasonable really. I could only weight it by stepping on the scales holding it, and repeating with my race bike, so didnt make a note of the exact weights.

I am really not concerned about weight, having lost 40lbs myself, and still weighing 160lbs...

They're SKS plastic fenders/mudguards and very neat and tidy. The front forks are carbon and have attachments on the dropouts for the fenders as well as behind the front brake. The rear fenders attach to the rear chainstays with brazed on eyelets and at the bridge for the brakes. It will also take rear racks and is suitable for some light touring duty. Its a very versatile designed bike, yet still is plenty 'racey' enough to be loads of fun when you decide to get out of the saddle. In all honesty its all the bike anyone could ever need unless you want a dedicated TT or racing machine!
