I walked into that store for the last time on Friday. I had a tune up done on my bike and they really did not do anything I asked them to do. PLUS - there is now a stain under the clear coat on my down tube. Between the carbon and clear coat that will not come out and was not their prior to me dropping it off.

I will no longer take my business there - I'll drive down to Richardson or Plano cycling.

Funny you mention that - I took a friend up there to talk about building or buying a bike - they were suppose to call him back this weekend - never did call back - so we are now going over to Plano to look.  My friend said, they have a very condescending attitude at RBM - I have to agree.

It's funny you mention it, because the mechanics at the Richardson RBM have about the same attitude towards the Frisco shop. At least, the couple of them I've talked to after bringing my bike in say about the same as it relates to the Frisco location.

i loathe both shops,,,

I drink before I go there since I know neither ones cares.  even when I was looking at mtn bikes last year, both shops acted like I was breathing air reserved for them only

Oh please....you drink before you go anywhere.....don't be blaming it on the LBS.

RBM Richardson has always been great to me. Always have gotten great customer service there and I've never bought a bike there either.

I've always gotten great service at the Richardson RBM. I think Gary's just not their type.

I've always gotten great service at the Richardson and Dallas locations.  The Dallas location is small and quaint and easy to get to know folks.  Once  you get to know them, they'll bend over backwards for you.

If you go to the Richardson store and don't get satisfaction from the service department, ask to talk to Woody.

I really hate everything RBM - shop, service, even their group rides.  Plano Cycling gets my business even though it's way out of the way.

It appears that everyone has a strong opinion.... No issues with any of the LBS for me....

being down in south dfw I have got to know B&B cycles well and they do a wonderful job, no matter what I am asking them to do on my bike. Good thing too cause the next closest bike shop is like 35 min away.

It's funny we were talking about this on our ride Saturday. On Sunday I drove to the Richardson store and was looking at bikes when we mentioned we lived in Frisco. The guy even asked us if we drove to Richardson instead of Frisco b/c of Frisco's reputation. They even know how bad of a rep the Frisco store has in the community. I won't go there again.

I'll never forget the "wheel specialist" at Richardson, telling me he does dozens of tri's every year and no one ever uses a disc, not in texas, since it's windy??   then the other guy tried to fit me on a 52 size bike,  my knees were hitting the aero bar.  or when they installed a computer, in the wrong place I asked for, and upside down.. then didn't think it was a problem ??

the Frisco store doesn't bother me nearly as bad as richardson

it only takes one village idiot to wander off to a new place to scar my memory forever

Have to agree with the OP. I drive to the Richardson location even though I live in Little Elm, which is much closer to the Frisco store.

Next time you're in the market for a bike/wheels/whatever, go to the Richardson location & talk to Gary. He's extremely nice & extremely knowledgeable. That's who I worked with on my Felt & he was able to answer every question I threw at him. Plus, he's got your name, how bad could he be?

Oh and stay away from Randy. That guy is a grade-A d*ckbag. I went in once to look at saddles & he tried to sell me a tri bike. I know from others at RBM that I'm not the only one who hates that guy.

I agree with you on both points. Gary is a really good guy. He spent a lot of time getting my fit correct on my tri bike when I bought it there a couple of years ago. I always go talk to him when I have questions.

Randy has always had an attitude when I have been there.

The first time, Gary had asked him to watch me for a bit during my fitting while he had to go to the restroom. Randy told me that I looked fine, even though I was still having places hurting. Then he accused me that it was lack of fitness. Once Gary came back, we spent another 45 mins dialing in my position because he knew I wasn't done.

The second story about Randy was when I had a sub-contractor in town from Australia who was into cycling. Instead of having him sit around his hotel room all weekend completely bored, I suggested we go ride for a few hours. We went to RBM to rent a bike and my Australian friend asked in proper Australian vernacular who he needed to talk to in order to "Hire a bike". Randy stared at him for a sec and said "Hire?!? You mean rent?!?" He said it with such an attitude and thinking to himself "what is this Australian guy doing in my shop?". He told us to go wait "over there" and some one would help us. Eventually after a few minutes, another sales guy asked if we needed help and he got us the bike that we needed. I don't think Randy even told anyone to come help us.

Gary is the best bike fitter in RBM Richardson by far, and a very nice guy.  He is the only reason I can ride today without knee pain.  I was there and happened to see other guys doing a fitting and at some point they didn't know what to do.  They went and asked Gary.  Right then I knew who I wanted for my fitting.

I also agree with all of the others about Gary. I've had 4 different people adjust my position on the bike and he is by far the best. He takes a long term approach and is not stingy with his time. I highly reccomend him.
