Champion  6973      marietta |  Subject: galveston ride. saturday 4.17i'm planning on a 40 mile ride down on the lone star course this saturday. leaving moody gardens west parking lot at 0700. 3 mile transition run following. sprint, oly, 70.3.... all welcome! houston racing's club ride leaves at 0800 so there should be a bunch of folks out on the course for some company. course map here. |

Expert 790 | Subject: RE: galveston ride. saturday 4.17 Fatty, I will be down there at 7 as well. I have an easy taper ride scheduled, so it should make for a relaxing ride. If you want 40 miles just turn around right before the SLP. And for people who haven't road down there previous, the SLP has no shoulder so I would not suggest going to the mainland. Just my opinion. |

Would someone post after the ride. See you next Sat! The road conditions were fantastic! There is a huge stretch of road that has been repaved and is very smooth. The rest of the coarse is really acceptable; no big pot holes or cracks from what I saw. We only road 20 miles into the coarse and 20 miles back. I am not sure about the remaining distance but it was smooth for tha leg. The winds were not too bad heading out, but got heavy coming in. The wind coming back was not as bad as I though it was going to be. It got hot though for our run after the ride. Definately could use more cloud coverage . All in all, I think the coarse is going to be acceptable and fun to most. |
