Subject: Newbie? Back in the game in MA Hello. I'm a 36 yo mom of two (3.5 and 22 mos) living in the burbs of Boston. Growing up I was always active (first duathlon when I was 13, junior nationals for cycling and skiing throughout HS, ran the Marine Corp marathon back in '99) but once I got married and had kids taking care of me took a back seat. After seeing an old friend, and current hard corp triathlete, at her wedding a last year I was reminded of all that I was missing and I'm ready and committed to make myself more of a priority.
I'm running a 1/2 mary Memorial Day weekend and got my first sprint tri in Sept. I haven't competed athletically outside of some very low key adult team ski racing since the marathon in '99 so I'm super nervous about testing out these old bones especially since I'm much heavier. I've got a goal to complete an ironman before I turn 40. After that who knows. I've dreamed of doing Kona since I was 13.
Well, since it's been forever since I was last active/competitive I think I'd call myself a newbie. I do wonder if I'll be laughed at once I pull out my old racing bike that I got in the late 80s!
Anyway, thanks for being here. I'm sure I'll have lots of questions. |
