Thanks Rudedog.

I was at the beach today and noticed that there were a line of red/white buoys, is that the whole course from one end of the beach to the other end?

yup pretty much, there will be big orange ones out there for the race, but the white danger markers are pretty close to the actual race course

Thanks rudedog. So basicaly, we swim out to the white markers and then turn right and head to the other end and then swim in from there. If that is the case, then I think swimming along the shore rather then going out and back will boost up my confidence.

Yes, it is an along the shore swim, i think you go out, around 5 or 6 white markers and then in, and we should be with the current also. It will be high tide according to the tide charts so it will be deeper out there, but there is a lot of support in kayaks and such in case of an issue. If you wanna get a swim in, let me know, maybe we can get a group ride and/or swim at the location, i am down there a couple times a week and live 10 mins away from the race course. i would be happy to meet up with people.

And please, everyone here calls me Rudy, lol

OK. Thanks Rudy. Do you go out there on weekends and swim? I would like to go swimming there in in my wetsuit. I am around 45 minutes away in NY.

Rudy - I'd be up for a pre-swim/ride of the course on a weekend. We only have a few weeks left, so it would have to be soon.

Just looking at the tide tables, looks like for race day it's about 1hr15min after high tide. If we want to swim Sunday in the same tidal conditions that would be around 12:30 to 1pm. Or we could try it an hour or so before high tide like 10 or 10:30? It wouldn't be midday at least. I wouldn't mind riding as well either before or after.

On race day, it will be about a hour past high tide, which is still pretty high.

should be almost high tide with a slight outgoing tide, which should benefit all racers as the tide goes out we will be with the current.  It should be one of the faster 1/2 mile swims you will ever do.

Bob - I always thought you were a mudder... nothing like a muck run before a bike.  Seriously, the Mossman guys run a good race and will have everything timed perfectly.  I'm sorry to miss it and Rudypalooza.  However, i'm out on Martha's Vineyard for 2 weeks so its not that bad.
