Run
Comments: It was tough-- about eight miles in I started struggling mentally with my run and really had to play mind games to keep from stopping. I just kept pushing along thinking it would all be over soon enough. Struggled to stay "in the zone"... but I was still able to keep running through the entire race to keep my time. Also, considering that my Garmin watch wasn't working and I was pacing blind, I was pretty dang happy to come in within about a minute of what I expected! Not too shabby! What would you do differently?: Not a whole lot. I think I gave this a great effort, and didn't overdo it. I was on the edge or over my comfort zone for the entire race, and pushed myself all the way through to the end. Pushed it into the finish strong, and felt great. Post race
Warm down: Stretching, and finding my wife. Had to go find my drop bag, and enjoy a creamie :) What limited your ability to perform faster: My mental ability to tune out the pain keeps me from pushing beyond my limits right now. I need to be able to go to a different place to push beyond where I run right now. Event comments: This race is well organized, and there are lots of people (12000+), so it makes for an exciting experience. The course offers enough of a challenge and crosses through familiar territory (and it's close), so it's a great one to pick. Last updated: 2010-03-01 12:00 AM

Chatted with my wife and then finally hopped on the trax train to take the ride up to the start line at the University. Hopped in the line to wait to use the bathroom, and pretty much burned the entire hour waiting...
Light stretches and some conversation to pass the time and prepare mentally.
