Age Group Rank = 5/49
Pre-race routine:

Woke up early, got to park around 6:15 after a brutal drive through major T-storms. About 1:15 to drive.
Event warmup:

Ran around lake and then swam for about 3 minutes.
Swim
  • 10m 20s
  • 656 yards
  • 01m 34s / 100 yards
Comments:

Started on the far left and first 100 yards was awesome, caught feet, easy rytyhm but got pinched at the first 3 bouys and mass of people which made the next 200 horrible. really struggled breathing and being stuck/swum over/into dragged down, etc. Glad I had the wetsuit due to bouyancy or I would have be in big trouble. First big bouy, could not fight to get to the right so ducked under/around left and got yelled at from canoe, so grabbed the bouy rope and swung it around me cause I couldn't make space. Finally broke out and got clean water for rythym breathing for last 300.
What would you do differently?:

Start on the right and break far right quickly to stay out of the mess. Thought I'd have enough distance to get around first bouy but got caught in the washing machine.
Transition 1
  • 01m 10s
Comments:

Raining, even though when we started the swim it was dry so didn't plan on shoes / socks being wet. Overall fine though.

Due to rain, T-1/T-2 times added to bike. So est T-1 time
What would you do differently?:

Practice a few more times. Not too smooth
Bike
  • 30m 42s

  • 21.89 mile/hr
Comments:

Raining for most of the course, sometimes heavy. Only 1 car passed the whole race. Saw the white little 3 legged dog at mile 2.5ish, barking up a storm, that was funny, unfortantly I made a comment to the guy I was passing about 'hey, the 3 legged dog" and I think he thought I was making fun of him. oops
Transition 2
  • 00m 40s
Comments:

With soaking wet socks and water logged bike shoes, made for slipping on the running shoes difficult. But overall quick, thanks yankz.
Est T2 time but felt faster than last year.
Run
  • 20m 20s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 06m 34s  min/mile
Comments:

Pushed for first mile to loosen up then hung on for the balance.
