I did my first race today.  I didn't run in it but I did volunteered.  I haven't been able to run becuase of a minor knee injury.  It was the first tri, outside of tv, that I've ever seen take place.  All I can say is that everyone here at the BT is super, and real nice.  But, I think you have to be that way to be a triathlete.  There were so many great people, and I had a great time.  It made me more excited to get going and continue with my tri!

Where would we be without volunteers?! It is exciting to run a race, but just as exciting to cheer others on. Good for you JR.

I think the race volunteer is the most selfless person around. Imagine missing the thrill the competition to hand out cups of water, juice, medical attention or just plain old encouragement. Thank you for helping out and I hope your knee injury gets better and you can return to being part of the race pack.

Thanks for volunteering!  It is great to be at the races and encourage everyone (and also BE encouraged by some of the people just busting their butts)!

Ya, it was great, and makes you appreciate the other volunteers.  One only bad thing was during the bike portion I was helping out with traffic.  It can't believe all the idiot drivers on the road.  Where has the common good in people gone?  This old man in a big truck almost took out a group of racers, all becuase he didn't have the patience to wait a few seconds to let a few riders go by.  Then he almost ran me over and flipped me off doing it.  What a JERK!  Why do people have to be that way?  It almost ruined a perfectly great race day.

I hear ya!  My wife and I volunteered at the Ralphs 1/2 IM last Sat.  We worked the hot corner, directing traffic, and all I got to say is I have some stories about some seriously scary drivers!!!!

Despite that, it was TOTALLY great to be out there.  Got some nice souveneirs for volunteering too!  Woo-Hoo!

I tried to say thanks to as many volunteers as I could yesterday. I really appreciate them standing out there all day so we can bash our brains out! Thanks for helping!
