Okay team, sign up here. look at your training plan, count your miles/minutes goals in each discipline and post here. If you can't run, for example, just put zero down for that activity.

I'll look at my logs and post my goals later--I'm off to go visit the dentist.

Unless the Team is full already, I've got the avator already, so sign me up.

Are we trying to get together a team for those doing River Cities?

Speaking of dentist. I am getting my wisdom teeth out on July 15th and will probably be down a week. I will make sure that my goals reflect that.

Thanks Lynda.

I'll definetly sign up for the team. Goals are already set for the month:
104 miles running
360 miles biking
26000 yards swimming

Is there anything else that I need to include. First time on a team.

But sarah, I know you're going to be doing at least two sports....biking and drinking. Hey, let's start our own RAGBRAI tri challenge team with biking, drinking and eating as our three sports.

I used to get picked last in gym as a kid because I was so puny, so I'm almost afraid to ask - can I be on your team?

What are the rules for determining goals?  I have to taper...but I wanna play too!

The rules for deturmining your goals it to be relastic.  Don't set them so low you know you wwill shatter them on your first time out in each sport, but do set them so high that you can't do what ever tapper you need to do for an event.

If I count right in this thread you will be number 8 for the endless summer team.

And correct me if  I am wrong, but this challenge it's just MAKE GOAL or NOT MAKE GOAL - no percentages over or under. Or has that been scrapped?

No, I'm number 8 and CindyK's number 7 because TriMom3 didn't commit, she just asked a question!    Gotta do some calculations to come up with my goals.  Can I set my goal in minutes?

I don't know if those things have been ironed out yet by the captains under the watchfull eye of Renee

Tania, rules have not been carved in stone yet. We haven't come up with a formula for calculating who wins. I agree that a new formula should be devised and the Team Captains will each have a say on what the formula should be.

Right now we're at the cat herding stage.

This is so exciting! What a great team.

Here's what I have so far:

1. Me (using minutes): 820 minS/1030 minB/655 min run
July events: Disco tri (sprint) 10 Jul and Caney tri (OD) on 24 Jul. Am considering the Tour de Paris on 16 Jul.
2. mnewton (with the Endless Summer logo)
3. hoff1732: 26,000S/360MB/104MR
4. Vapor Trail
5. Kepola: 15,000S/150MB/25MR
6. Tania
7. CindyK
8. MandyGayle

I'd also like to know if you have any tris, tours, or other organized races coming up this month so we can motivate each other.

Let's get out there and do it! And in the meantime, please harass as many of the other teams as possible.

A great team, a great name, and great smack talking potential!  Woo hoo!

I would really prefer not to have to convert my monthly goal to minutes, I don't train that way. I will however defer to what the captains decide in the Great July Challenge Pow Wow.  As it stands now my goals for the month are:

Swimming - 12,500 yards /  Biking - 700 miles /  Running  20 miles

Obviously a bike heavy month again because I have RAGBRAI on the 24-30 of this month (won't be able to post totals until August 1st by the way). But I also have an 8K run on the 4th, a century bike ride on the 9th and a 5K run on the 16th.  So MOTIVATE me teammates - if this month doesn't kill me, it will make me stronger!

Not a huge amount of minutes, but this is what I have planned to do for the month. I have accounted for being out a week for taking all of my wisdom teeth out and for starting to taper for River Cities.

If I recover faster, I will add time to my goals so that I am not "sand bagging"

Happy training to everyone.

Bike: 350 minutes
Run: 200 minutes
Swim: 170 minutes

Kathy I will be out at Cypress Lake tomorrow doing some biking and maybe a swim and/or run.

Hey Michael, your goals look good! But just because I'm using minutes doesn't mean you need to as well.

As far as tomorrow am, I'm planning to be at Cypress as well, but if it looks like it is going to rain, then I'll flip my long run to tomorrow and my long bike/short run to Sunday. And by short run, I mean a 10-15 minute easy, easy run off of the bike.

Thanks for the encouragement!

All of my training schedule is in minutes anyway, so no big deal.

I have added everyone to "friends" list, so I will try and encourage you as much as possible and talk smack in other places where appropiate.

Have a happy holiday weekend.
