Subject: Wetsuit Zippers

I'm looking at a couple of wetsuits with different zippers.  One has the standard bottom to top closure style and the other is the newer reverse top to bottom closure.

Other than the ease of getting into and getting out of the suits (standard easier getting into while reverse is easier getting out of typically) is there any advantage or disadvantage?

Has anyone experienced their standard zipper suit being unzipped in a race by having a compeitor accidentally pull their zipper cord?

I'm sure it's happened, but seems like it would be a fluke, not something to really worry about.

Some wetsuits have velcro on the end of the leash and a little patch on the suit to keep the leash in place.

Nope. Never even heard of it happening with either kind of zipper. There's a velcro flap over the top of the zipper and that would also have to be undone before the zipper itself would move.

I would worry more about which suit fit right rather than zipper at first.

While talking about zippers I gotta say, my QR suit is nice and fits well, but the zipper actually seperates at the bottom, like it would on a jacket, and there is no need for this.  It means you have to start the zipper a little before you put it on, or have someone else zip you...  just whis it had a stop at the bottom and stayed together.....   OK, rant over
