Pre-race routine:

I was very unorganized. Ran up to pick up packet. I am not a big fan of packet pick right before the race. There was a lot I did not know about the race until right before. When I was getting ready fo rthe start we were told while in the water that the course swim was two laps. Not that two laps is a big deal. It is just that I was not aware. I am a mental case and need to be ready for these things. Just me.
Event warmup:

Ran the sim to transition to get a feel where my bikle was in the rack. Got in a spalshed around a bit. It was freaking hot.
Swim
  • 13m 11s
  • 875 yards
  • 01m 31s / 100 yards
Comments:

This was a good swim despite getting kicked in the faec a few times and having to get out and run to the start of a new lap.
What would you do differently?:

be better prepared for the race. The swim was fine
Transition 1
  • 01m 30s
Comments:

Transition was fine. The wetsuit is falling apart and the damn thing has always stuck on my heels. Why doesn't anyone make a wetuit with zippers on the calves?
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Bike
  • 1h 21m 29s
  • 12.5 miles
  • 9.20 mile/hr
Comments:

This is where things went to pieces. Good start and just was passed up left and right. Got pushed off the track. Had to stop a few times. it was aweful. Pretty much blew up. Not enough water and the hills heat killed me.
What would you do differently?:

Not get on a mountain bike.
Transition 2
  • 01m 30s
Comments:

Knocked a bike off the rack trying to rack my bike. I knew I was finished so I made sure that the bike I knocked off was set back up. Wife grabbed me a gel. I was a little delirious so I forgot--->The water that I needed.
What would you do differently?:

Get the water and dump it on my head.
Run
  • 48m 53s
  • 4 miles
  • 12m 13s  min/mile
Comments:

I actually passed some people. I did not figure out it was the heat until about three mile in. Dumped some water on my head a couple of times and low and behold. I can ruyn and keep a good pace.
What would you do differently?:

Make sure that I do not overheat. This was my fault I did not have anough water on the bike course nor the run.
Post race
Warm down:

Grabbed some water right away and found some shade

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Water and heat. I should have been better prepared.

This was a slow swim which was part of the plan. Came oput in 15th and I could have done better, never had to get out of the swim and run to do a new lap. I was happy with the swim.
