I have widdled my choice as a first time tri participant to these 2 bikes as good starting rides.  Are these worth buying or is there something better out there that I don't know about?

I have a Felt S32 and it's a great bike. In my last two races I've been in the top 5 for bike splits, so it's more than capable. Even if I came into a chunk of cash I really don't see any need to upgrade to a "better" bike, as this one does everything I need and gets compliments from spectators to boot.

Now if only I could figure out how to run...

Looks like the MSRP raised from when I bought mine. It's now listed as $1399.  You might be able to find it for a hair under that amount, but most shops don't discount new bikes all that much.

I was lucky as mine was a previous year model that had been on layaway for a year when the purchaser called and said they no longer wanted it. So the LBS sold it to me for $999. As a bonus I prefered the 08 colors over the 09 colors, and in 09 they downgraded from Ultegra to 105.

Weight isn't a primary concern with time trials or triathlons. If it were a road bike and you were doing a lot of stop and go it would be but since it's more sustained output for longer periods of time look for aero wheels rather than super light ones.

Did you just buy the 2007 this year?  How many years do you think it has left on it?
