As I was browsing through the start list, I noticed Chris Lieto. Is this the triathlete? Does he race bikes occasionally?http://www.cyclingnews.com/features/mt-hood-cycling-classic-start-list

I believe Chris Lieto was a pure cyclist at one time, but based on the fact that that Chris Lieto is on Specialized team, I doubt it is the triathelete Christ Lieto. Could be though.

My SO was supposed to race the Pro/Cat 1 race, but he broke his hand on Sunday, so no racing for him (or watching for me)

I think that Bill Demong, the olympic gold medalist from Nordic Combined from the USA is racing it as well. Curious as to whether it is THE Chris Lieto--maybe he is using it as a focused bike block of training? Cool if it is him.

I think I saw him go down spectating!  What happened?  It looked like someone (maybe him) rolled a tire off the rim and it started that big crash.

I forgot that you were going to be there. I was sick and really tired from racing in the pouring rain in Sooke the day before, so I didn't race the crit. Too bad, I really love crits.

You probably did see him go down. Both him and his teammate went down, but apparently there were two separate crashes that lap. His was the first one at the top of the hill - corner 1. He was 2nd wheel and the H&R block guy in front of him slipped out (I think there is some tile on that corner that is slippery when it gets wet) and David went right into him. He was the tall guy in pink. I think he jumped out of the way, but other riders must have ridden over his bike and his wheel because both were wrecked. He also must have hit his hand and he broke a bone. He had surgery to get in pinned on Monday, so hopefully he'll be good to go in 3 weeks, but no racing at Mount hood or Nationals for him.

Ya I was on that corner and it was a nasty crash.  A lot of people went down.  There was a slick manhole cover right on the corner as well.  Well that is crappy for him.  I hope he heals up and bounces right back.
