Anybody do a pre-swim last week?  I heard there were jellyfish sightings, but it wasn't clear if they were the stinging variety.

Gah!  My biggest worry about this race!  I'm hoping we get the storms we're supposed to get tonight and they are all washed back out to the Atlantic!!!

How did everyone make out?

I did a respectable time for a first Oly, but nothing to brag about.

Rough swim, huh? And jellyfish too--but they didn't seem to sting.

I had a great race for my first oly! 2:23:14. The swim was rough going out to the first turn bouy, but after that was not bad. I did feel the jellyfish and did not get stung. Could not believe all the flying bottles when you got onto the base. The guy in front of me lost both of his bottles on the first lap. I was pleased with all the water stops. The greatest part was the giy spraying runners with his garden hose. That really help on the second lap when the heat was picking up.

I agree, great race!

I loved the guy with the hose as well, that was awesome.  And the quantity of water stops was nice, especially given how hot it was - that was most appreciated!

Here's my full race report (with pics): http://www.dcrainmaker.com/2010/06/tidewater-triathlon-2010-race-report.html

great venue, awesome bike route, little windy on the return and HOT RUN.  i had my first big bonk on this race but finished.  very last woman, but not very last athlete.  i under-ate and over-biked, and i'm STILL cramping in my quads and glutes today.

was a really great race till i headed out on that run....

I was there as a spectator. Although I have limited experience, I was impressed with the entire event. It will be a 'Must Do' event for me next year.

Congrats to all
