Age Group Rank = 2/14
Pre-race routine:

woke up at 5:20 ate some oatmeal and got ready, Got lost driving over and arrived late
Event warmup:

was late getting to event due to being lost, racked my bike as the national athem was being played, got to the water with 1 min. to go for wave starts, so about 50 yards of swimming
Swim
  • 08m 32s
  • 500 yards
  • 01m 43s / 100 yards
Comments:

Not a bad swim never was redlining at all not much contact just around buoys and was strong coming home. Anytime I pop out of the water under 8 minutes I'm happy. Bad: I tore my wetsuit around the calf putting it on in a hurry.
What would you do differently?:

don't get lost arrive on time and get a proper warm up. Drive the pace a little more
Transition 1
  • 01m 43s
Comments:

bad T1 too much time messing with socks next time forget them. Cost me about :30
What would you do differently?:

not wear socks just lube up the feet, trail run without socks scared me
Bike
  • 39m 8s
  • 14.4 miles
  • 22.08 mile/hr
Comments:

solid bike, had some slower miles due to lack of fitness on the bike, never was passed. Like the course the rollers keep everyone honest.
What would you do differently?:

nothing, rode hard just need more time on the bike
Transition 2
  • 00m 49s
Comments:

good transition, little slow with shoes I need to work on my T1 and T2's
What would you do differently?:

need to practice
Run
  • 24m 32s
  • 3.3 miles
  • 07m 26s  min/mile
Comments:

Very muddy, fell down around mile 1 and it really slowed me down. Felt good during the run but was scared to go faster with the condition of the trail. Even walked one hill to make sure I didn't fall again.
What would you do differently?:

not much I'm not a good trail runner and it was just to muddy for me to go any faster
Post race
Warm down:

none

What limited your ability to perform faster:

weather conditions, lack of bike training, and muddy trails

Event comments:

Good race, best swimming water you will find, crystal clear and calm wish every race had this water. Well organized and fun bike course.

Great job, that lake was very clear, I liked the school bus at the bottom as we rounded the last buoy.  Conditions on the run were rough, I know that muddy hill you mentioned and took it easy too.  Good racing to you for the rest of the year...
