Swim
Comments: Wholly schmolly am I out of swim shape. This hurt... bad. I got really panic'y at the start. Had to stop a couple times just to catch my breath and calm down. Never found a good tempo but just struggled through it. What would you do differently?: I don't know... train maybe. First 800yrd swim since last year! Transition 1
Comments: Nothing to see here. Just went as fast as I could. I think it is a PR T1 for me. What would you do differently?: Gear layout was good... I just need to decide if I am going to change from putting on socks and running in my cyling shoes to have them already mounted and no socks. Bike
Comments: Good ride...PR Bike pace according to the results... but I think it is off. Should be around 20.6 I think which is not a PR. Course was a little wet from the early morning rain but no worries there. Got blocked a couple of times by people riding in the middle of the road. I have seen this in almost every race. Frustrating to say the least. Got passed by the guy/kid who ended up winning the race like I was standing still... crazy fast. What would you do differently?: Coulda pushed more... I kinda lost focus on one part... looked down as was crusing at 18-19mph. WTF? Transition 2
Comments: I felt slow here. Getting off my bike was bad as the dismount line was crowded. My hands were not listening to my brain. Could not get my bike racked and almost knocked another bike off. I chatted a little... could have done much better with this one. What would you do differently?: Flying dismount??? I don't know if I trust myself enough not to break an ankle. Run
Comments: PR by 0:02 and I'll take it. Nothing really special here. I have not been focused on running nor speed. Just dug deep and went. What would you do differently?: Speed work... real training... run volume... I'm slow...I could go on and on. Post race
Warm down: Walked around to catch my breath then got some water and a protein shake. What limited your ability to perform faster: Not training for the swim. Losing focus on the ride. Being slow on the run Event comments: Ultra-fit is getting much better with their races. Lots of after race eats and plenty of support. Race seemed much bigger this year than I remember.
