Sunny
Total Time = 00m
Overall Rank = 111/
Age Group = 45-49
Age Group Rank = 6/33
Pre-race routine:

PB/Banana sandwich and some water. Drove to race. I love a race that's 10 minutes from my door!
Event warmup:

Easy jog to get loose. Stretched a little but didn't get in the water. Saw some friends and hung out with them.
Swim
  • 08m 46s
  • 500 meters
  • 01m 45s / 100 meters
Comments:

Had a good swim. Didn't start too fast but wanted to make sure I didn't lose the main group. Pushed hard after the 1st 50. I thought I was 1st out of the water b/c I didn't see any silver caps in front of me. Turns out that's b/c the guy who had the fastest split was more than a minute in front of me!
What would you do differently?:

Not much. I couldn't have stayed with the fastest swimmer, so I was content with the effort.
Transition 1
  • 02m 11s
Comments:

Got to T1 okay. Had a hard time w/my right bike shoe. I thought I had lost my sunglasses; it turns out, they were in my shoe. Took them out and put them on, which cost a few seconds. Oh well, at least I didn't lose them!
What would you do differently?:

Check my shoes when setting up transition.
Bike
  • 41m 3s
  • 13.2 miles
  • 19.29 mile/hr
Comments:

I had a hard time getting clipped in and started stressing, which made it harder. It didn't take me long but I wanted to be up to speed faster than I was. Overall, I was satisfied with my bike. I haven't done any speed work at all this year due to IMLou training, so I can't complain about the bike split.
What would you do differently?:

Not much. Focus has been on distance due to race schedule, so there's not much that I would change. I didn't originally have this on my schedule but like the fact that it's close to home, so I added it late.
Transition 2
  • 01m 35s
Comments:

Good T2. Off with the bike shoes/helmet; on with the running shoes. Race belt & hat and off we go.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing comes to mind.
Run
  • 27m 57s
  • 3 miles
  • 09m 19s  min/mile
Comments:

I was quite happy with the run. I'm always slow but, considering that I haven't done much speed work, I was content with a 9:19 pace. (I'm 6'5", 240lbs, so I'm not fast to begin with.)
What would you do differently?:

More speed work, if I wasn't training for Louisville.
Post race
Warm down:

Fluids and ice cream

Event comments:

I really like this race. It's great to drive 10 minutes and be at the race site! I could ride here, if I were so inclined. I will be back for this race.
