Lake Geneva Extreme Sports

Sunny
Total Time = 1h 14m 53s
Overall Rank = 25/108
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 5/14
Pre-race routine:

I had my HoHo's Friday night.
Event warmup:

I ran around barefoot to get the heart rate up and did some stretching.
Swim
  • 08m 34s
  • 880 yards
  • 58s / 100 yards
Comments:

The bad part of the swim course was that we had to swim East towards the shore. Well, the sun was coming up. I couldn't see the finish line so I didn't know where I was going after rounding the buoy. I eventually was able to see the finish line and realized I was going the right direction. There was only one person next to me and he kept criss crossing because he was lost to. I got my wetsuit off perfectly this time compared to my last race.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Transition 1
  • 02m 19s
Comments:

The transition area was a little ways away from the swim. I had a problem getting my helmet strap to snap together. It took about an extra 30 seconds to figure it out.
Bike
  • 41m 44s
  • 13.5 miles
  • 19.41 mile/hr
What would you do differently?:

I just need to keep riding and building up endurance and speed.
Transition 2
  • 01m 26s
Comments:

This transition was good. My legs cramped while I was putting my shoes on. One guy was sitting on a milk crate. He said he can avoid the cramps by sitting on it. I may get one and try it.
Run
  • 20m 52s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 06m 44s  min/mile
Comments:

There is no way I ran 3.1 miles in that time. They had to have screwed up the distance. One guy ran the course in 14 minutes and he kept saying that there is no way he could have done that.
What would you do differently?:

I need to increase my speed, I need to do more sprints and tempo runs.
Post race
Event comments:

They need to get organized. This could be a great race but the distances were off big time. I hope for future races they get a clue.

Age Group: 0/14
Overall: 0/108
Performance: Good
Suit: DeSoto
Course: It was an out and back course. The race director had no idea what he was doing with the course. It was confusing. He kept changing the route of the swim and which buoys to swim around. I don't think the distance was 880 yards but they say it was. I know I didn't swim less than a minute for my 100 yard average.

Course: They said it was a flat course but it wasn't. It had some rolling hills. They originally told us it was a 12 mile course. Then the race director said we were doing 17 because of construction. We ended up doing 13.5. All of the markers for turns were on the right side of the road execept for one which was on the left. Several people missed it and were pissed because they got lost.

great job! amazing times. bummer that the distances were off. i did a 5k last year and and set a PR of 24 mins, but the course was WAY short, so it threw off my true PRs for a while. oh well. glad you had a good time. this is the organization that runs the 1/2 IM i was thinking about doing, so maybe i'll look for a different one.
