Total Time = 2h 58m 48s
Overall Rank = 171/514
Age Group = Clydes below 39
Age Group Rank = 5/17
Pre-race routine:

Had a solid breakfast and then picked up my friend who was also competing. Drove to the race. Had three water bottles before the start of the race.
Event warmup:

One I got my bike all set, I went for a warm-up swim to get used to the water. Then just waited for the start.
Swim
  • 28m 50s
  • 1500 meters
  • 01m 55s / 100 meters
Comments:

Swim went really well. Over two minutes faster than my previous 1500 meter PR. Drafted a few different times, but every time I got in the rhythm with someone they would switch to breast stroke and slow down. Sighting was better than expected.
What would you do differently?:

Being as this was my first triathlon, I wasn't sure how much to hold back. I probably could have pushed it even a tad harder. But overall I was very happy with my swim.
Transition 1
  • 02m 53s
Comments:

I feel like the transition went as well as possible.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Bike
  • 1h 26m 5s
  • 28 miles
  • 19.52 mile/hr
Comments:

Went really hard on the bike. Felt good the whole way, especially on the hills. There were a few times that I had trouble passing because there were a lot of tri and du athletes on the course.
What would you do differently?:

When passing, commit to it and go even harder.
Transition 2
  • 02m 21s
Comments:

My transition went fast, but I had to pee so bad... luckily there wasn't a line for the port-a-potty, but it did take at least 30 secs.
What would you do differently?:

Um, be able to hold my pee better?
Run
  • 58m 38s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 09m 26s  min/mile
Comments:

Another PR! But, I wasn't mentally prepared for how many people would pass me on the run. My goal was to be at or below 10 min/miles, which I did. But I didn't realize that meant so many people were going to be passing me. It played games with my head for the first two/three miles, but once I realized I was keeping a good pace it didn't bother me so much.
What would you do differently?:

Sprint harder at the end.
Post race
Warm down:

Got sprayed by cool water and drank some water. Walked for a little bit.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Being as I PRed all three events, I wouldn't say there was much that limited my ability. But I do need to run faster.
