Total Time = 47m 5s
Overall Rank = 99/108
Age Group = 26-30 Ladies
Age Group Rank = 6/8
Pre-race routine:

After finishing the 1 mile Open Water Swim I changed into my tri-top and tri-shorts, used the rest room and put on my tennies.
Event warmup:

One mile OWS and then stretched.
Run
  • 14m
  • 1.25 miles
  • 11m 12s  min/mile
Comments:

The first leg of the race was TOUGH! It was hot and I was WAY dehydrated (from my night of boozing...hey, it's a holiday weekend). I was slow and was breathing really hard.
What would you do differently?:

More run training.
Transition 1
  • 01m
Comments:

I need to get speed laces for my sweet new shoes.
What would you do differently?:

Hustle
Swim
  • 18m
  • 750 meters
  • 02m 24s / 100 meters
Comments:

I felt VERY heavy for the first 200 meters or so, but by the time I hit the sand and got back into the water for the 2nd lap, I was feeling great and picked up the pace quite a bit. My sighting was good today and I thought I rounded the bouy's like a pro.
What would you do differently?:

Not too disappointed with this swim. My time is an estimate...they only had our overall times, not the splits. So I'm just guessing.
Transition 2
  • 01m
Comments:

I went to the wrong crate...oops! Eventually, I found my stuff and got a move on.
What would you do differently?:

I forgot my race belt, so I pinned my race number on a pair of basketball shorts and threw those on after the swim. They were sagging and sticking to my legs for the rest of the race...it was kind of annoying.
Run
  • 14m
  • 1.25 miles
  • 11m 12s  min/mile
Comments:

This run felt better than the first....although I was still slow, I wasn't breathing so damn hard.
What would you do differently?:

Hustle. It was only 1.25 miles.
Post race
Warm down:

We cooled off in the water, checked out the results and then hit the road.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Effort, lack of pre-race hydration and too much booze over the past few weeks (including a lot of drinking the night before the race, which is never a good idea).

Event comments:

I had a great time and can't wait to do it again next year.
