Pre-race routine:

I woke up around 5 and drove back to gas stations near the highway only to find out they didn't open to 7 and 8am. As a result, I had to go all the way to Plymouth for water. Trip ended up taking me about 40-45 minutes. Besides that, I had a couple bananas and some orange juice.
Event warmup:

Rob and I road our bikes over from the campground and had my dad drive our bags over. However, we had trouble finding him so besides the ride, I didn't really warm up much.
Swim
  • 05m 36s
  • 440 yards
  • 01m 16s / 100 yards
Comments:

Had a good swim. I didn't really push too hard, but put up a good time. I highly question whether the course was a quarter mile or not. Nonetheless, I spotted well and found passed quite a few people during the swim.
What would you do differently?:

Not much in this one. Happy with my swim.
Transition 1
  • 01m 54s
Comments:

I'd consider this to be an "OK" T1. I got my suit off pretty quickly, but bobbled with my sunglasses and my helmet a bit. I also forgot/didn't have time to put rubber bands on my shoes so I didn't get on my bike as easily as usual. I road all the way to the first downhill before I put my shoes on and I think it was the right move.
What would you do differently?:

Put rubber bands on my shoes and just be a little more calm. I think I was a bit antsy.
Bike
  • 54m 57s
  • 21 miles
  • 22.93 mile/hr
Comments:

There was constant rain during the ride, but it wasn't coming down too hard so it wasn't too bad. However, there were some puddles that needed to be avoid and the rain certain didn't help my time.

The way out was super fast. It was a lot of fun averaging just about 28mph (I think a little higher actually) on the way out. However, reality did set in on the back and I had to go up the hills. I did a good job pushing on the hills and I was pretty happy with my performance.

Hydration on the bike was pretty good. I just sipped on my Gu20 every few minutes and had 1 GU on the way back on the ride.
What would you do differently?:

Not too much. I guess just get stronger and faster.
Transition 2
  • 00m 44s
Comments:

Had a good T2. Was in and out real fast. I love slipping my Zoots on so quickly.
What would you do differently?:

Not a thing.
Run
  • 32m 45s
  • 5 miles
  • 06m 33s  min/mile
Comments:

Had a pretty good run. It starts out going gradually up so it was nice to have negative splits. I actually took the 2nd mile a little easy because I felt some cramps coming on in my stomach and I'm glad I did because I felt really strong on the way back.

What would you do differently?:

Overall, that's a decent run for me. However, I still need to get faster! I'll keep working on it.
Post race
Warm down:

Just walked around and chatted with the other finishers for a while and had a Muscle Milk. I definitely should have gotten a message while the line was still small, but didn't think about it.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

The rain didn't help, but I think that's about it.

Event comments:

This was a really fun race with some very fast people in it. The weather could have been better, but what are you going to do. I really enjoyed this one.
