Pre-race routine:

Headed out early to secure parking near the finish line. Arrived around 6:15 and ran into a group of swimmers from the Monroe YMCA and hung out with them the rest of the morning.

Ate a Zone bar about 30 minutes before the race. I was still hungry and mooched half a kaschi bar from a friend.

eased myself into the water and did a brief warm up. treaded water near the starting area.

Comments:

tough swim - more chop, wind, weeds & rollers than I was expecting. Plus I haven't done much swim training in the past 3 months.

About 400yds from the finish someone came up next to me & I thought "Hey, that's my friend." I tried to keep up with her, but she was sprinting for the finish and left me in her wake pretty easily. I wish I could say it was the wetsuit, but she just plain kicked my @zz.
What would you do differently?:

train more and wear a wetsuit.
Post race
Warm down:

dried off ASAP & grabbed a couple cups of coffee.

I still had several folks worried about how much I was shaking, so perhaps my non-wetsuit days are over until I gain some weight.

Event comments:

I thought the race was OK. Parking wasn't as difficult as I expected and the food at the finish line was top notch (but could have used some peanut butter and/or cream cheese) Coffee was a must for us nuts who chose not to wear a wetsuit!
