Pre-race routine:

Dog woke me up extra early this morning so ate a couple bagel thins with peanut butter at 4:30. Left the house at 5:45. Got to the race at 6:00 setup transition, got chip and body marking.
Event warmup:

Got in the water for a few minutes at waited for the start.
Swim
  • 42m 9s
  • 1500 meters
  • 02m 48s / 100 meters
Comments:

Man I'm crazy slow! That's about all I can say. I gave away a lot of time in the swim.
What would you do differently?:

Go to masters swim more!
Transition 1
  • 02m 30s
Comments:

Typical transition for me so nothing too exciting.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing too much. It was a typical transition for me.
Bike
  • 1h 14m 1s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 20.14 mile/hr
Comments:

Not a bad ride for me. I wish that my saddle was digging in like it was. Would have been a lot more pleasant ride and I probably could have a picked up a minute or two. I guess my last adjustment didn't work that well after all. The last climb up to Stumpy Creek sucked knowing I still had to run!
What would you do differently?:

Ride more in training.
Transition 2
  • 02m 10s
Comments:

I screwed up and started running the wrong way. Realized I was heading away from the run start and turned around. My head wasn't really clear the whole time.
What would you do differently?:

Pay more attention to what I'm doing.
Run
  • 51m 19s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 08m 16s  min/mile
Comments:

Tough run course. My pacing was good and ended up with pretty consistent splits. Found a running partner and ran together the entire time. It was nice to have something to make the run go a little faster and push the pace.
What would you do differently?:

Run more of course!
Post race
Warm down:

Drink half of a Sunkist and some water and wait for my wife to finish.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Training volume and terrible swimming.
