Overall Rank = 210/276
Age Group = 40-44
Age Group Rank = 32/43
Pre-race routine:

Light breakfast
Event warmup:

Light stretching, jogging. Some good prayer time.
Swim
  • 33m 46s
  • 1500 meters
  • 02m 15s / 100 meters
Comments:

Good swim. Ran into a ton of people - maybe the most ever. Felt great the last 500 yds. Could have done better if the race was another 1000 yds - I was swimming good at that point.
What would you do differently?:

During sighting, look at the crowd around me and pick a line that is less crowded.
Transition 1
  • 03m 38s
Comments:

Other tan being able to sprint to the rack, I wouldn't do much different. One of these days I will experiment with leaving my bike shoes clipped intot he back all the way.
What would you do differently?:

I'm think about cutting the bottom 6" off the legs of my suit just for quick change purposes...
Bike
  • 1h 16m
  • 40 kms
  • 31.58 km/hr
Comments:

I thought I rode well. I was shocked that I did not rank better in my age group. I was passing most of the people out there.... I guess when you get dropped, nobody else passes you....
What would you do differently?:

I think I rode as well as I could have. Other thatn training harder/longer to get my average pace above 20 mph (I was 19.7 mph today).
Transition 2
  • 02m 12s
Comments:

Pretty standard transition
What would you do differently?:

Be faster
Run
  • 1h 07m 1s
  • 6.2 miles
  • 10m 49s  min/mile
Comments:

I suck at the run. I was dying today. I'm not sure if was the heat, conditioning, or what but I was dying on the run. The last half mile, my back was getting tight and was not my friend right after ther the race...
What would you do differently?:

Lose another 20 lbs...
Post race
Warm down:

Laid on the grass and stretched my back.

Event comments:

This was a good race. I wanted to do better though. My goal was 2:52 - I missed it by 10 minutes. I think I could have cut 6 minutes off my time with a slightly better performance though...
