Swim
Comments: A little too fast for the first 150 yards. Got into a decent rhythm. Felt OK. What would you do differently?: Nothing Transition 1
Comments: A little slow getting socks on. Other than that OK. What would you do differently?: Develop a routine. Practice and follow routine. Bike
Comments: Overall happy. Goal was < 40 min. One gel at the 11 mile point. What would you do differently?: Start in the first wave of the swim. All my competition was the first wave. Did not have anyone to push me. Transition 2
Run
Comments: Felt good. No competitors around and no mile markers, so very hard to judge pace and no one to push. Felt that I could have run a faster run. What would you do differently?: Start in the first wave. Post race
Warm down: Easy stretch. Watched daughters soccer game at same venue. Biked home for a little over an hour. What limited your ability to perform faster: No competition around me. Next time start with first wave. Happy with performance. Secondary goal was to complete bike and run < 1 hour. Completed in just under 59 minutes. Event comments: Small race. Good facilities. Nice pool and transition area. No timing chips - wrist bands for each phase that were cut off in transition. Bike course was open to traffic, but no a huge issue. Directions were OK, but at a couple of turns a little confusing. Bike course marking was poor. Runners were all over the place. I had at least three other participants ask me for directions. Too many volunteers in transition and not enough out on the course (at intersections/turns). Good lunch afterwards and nice awards ceremony. Very friendly people. Last updated: 2010-08-10 12:00 AM
