I have been training now for 6 weeks, 6 days a week. A buddy of mine recommended that I take off 3 days to let my body recover.......should I? Thanks

Brad

I don't know about 3, but one day maybe.  Depends on how you feel.

One day a week off is usually thrust upon me by other commitments. Since you are mixing different disciplines your body should have time to recover. I mean how much work are your legs getting on swim days really? How much upper body work is your body getting on run or ride days?
It all balances out.

My training days usually involve two sports, usually with swimming taking the most time with 5 days a week, but I either bike to and from gym or run to and from gym. I aint lazy, I just want to know if my muscles need time to spew bad stuff from them....if that makes any sense...thanks

This is pertty individual. If I take off three days I just get bored, grumpy and have a hard time starting again. I can take one day off of running at a time without it affecting my running and two days off the bike. I can take off longer for the swim without having a problem. Apparently my fish tendancies from elementary school days have not completly gone away. Take a day off to start then start up again. If you are as fast as always and feel rested then one day off a week is a good idea. As always there are many people here who know more than me so listen to them first.
