Its funny, it seems like it would be easy to keep track of some laps, but I lose count almost every time I swim, but end up with a pretty close guess. I even try to keep the lap number in my head on every lap, but somehow it eludes me.....   bah

Our coach mentioned a neat plan for counting 50's/100's whatever...just use the pool kickboards...every fifty move one over...or every 100 move one...cheap easy and FREE...if you swim where they have alot of them anyhow...

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll have to get one of the electronic motion sensor ones. Piles of coins or kick boards or whatnot won't help me as I don't stop every 50 or 100 yds.

StMaas - 2010-08-27 8:45 PM There's woman at my pool who uses a pile of coins(ok, two piles really), seems to work pretty well for her.

I use this method or I find some rocks at the pool and use them.

ChrisM - 2010-08-27 2:03 PM T?ry using distance instead of laps, i.e., 5 x 200s, just count 50s.

In either case, if I am on a long swim and lose my distance I figure it out with the pace clock.  I.e., if I am swimming 1:30 pace or so, at 400 yds I'll be at or around 6:00, etc.

This is what I do.  I take a peek at the clock every 100 meters (or what I think is 100) and make sure I'm around the time I would expect for that distance.

The pennies idea sounds pretty solid!  Lol...I always try the 111111, 22222, 3333333, thing, but somehow end up thinking 88888 no wait 999999, um 7777?

My short attention span wins again...
