Total Time = 2h 41m 11s
Overall Rank = 181/636
Age Group = M30-34
Age Group Rank = 17/33
Pre-race routine:

Drove to the race with Jeff. Multigrain bagel as is with an iced coffee.
Event warmup:

Got about a 3 mile ride in and then a very brief swim.
Swim
  • 27m 24s
  • 1584 yards
  • 01m 44s / 100 yards
Comments:

My stroke felt pretty good. I don't think I pushed myself at all. I was going into the race not expecting to really kill it. My swim plan was to take nice long smooth strokes and I think I over did the "take it easy" plan.
What would you do differently?:

Push it.
Transition 1
  • 02m 33s
Comments:

This went well. It's a long run from the swim.
Bike
  • 1h 17m 5s
  • 26.3 miles
  • 20.47 mile/hr
Comments:

Pretty good bike split for not having trained for this distance much. I should have been much faster but didn't deserve to be.
Transition 2
  • 01m 42s
Comments:

This should have gone better. I spent like 30 seconds wrestling my garmin off my bike. I need to get the quick release set-up for the sprints.
Run
  • 52m 29s
  • 6.2 miles
  • 08m 28s  min/mile
Comments:

Piss poor.
Post race
Warm down:

Hung around for a while and watched Colin and Nate get up on that podium. Well, the "podium".

Nice job slacker.  Imagine how well you would have done if you actually trained the past 6 months.  People like you make me sick.

It was good seeing you.

Definitely a solid effort my man!  Couple things:

1.  I want to know more about that "crap" run you had.  Did you cramp?  Either way, I'd get away from the bagel in the morning.  Bread can often cause side cramps.  I've really reduced the amount of bread I have in my diet and its really helped.

2.  That is a solid bike split for your lack of training.  You should be very happy with that and that is a job well done.

3.  As for the swim, you're definitely capable of a stronger swim.  You WILL be swimming more and you're going to dominate at Nantasket.

4.  You should probably get a coach that gets all over you if you slack on your training.  Moving forward, I'm not going to be Mr. nice guy so you've been warned!  Smile

Great job and thanks for sticking around for the awards.  I always have a great time when we do races together!
