Pre-race routine:

Stayed at the Marriott in Miami. Didn't get good night sleep, but didn't expect to. Got up at 4am, had coffee and half peanut butter sandwich.

This was crazy. Storm came in just after 5th wave. All swimmers had to exit the water. It poured and was like hail hitting you. Finally storm passed and we were off. I stayed sort of to the left of the wave and didn't like that much. Very crowded.
What would you do differently?:

I'm pretty happy with my time. Try positioning over to the right more.

Not race in Florida in August :)

I was very slow on this transition as well. Couldn't get out of my shoes and then into the soaking wet sneakers. Also decided to take a hit of the inhaler.

Just pathetic. Tried doing another hit off the inhaler prior to running, but didn't seem to make a difference. I was gasping for breath the entire run. The run was through a dirt path and after all the rain it was just mud and puddles. Not cool at all! My body felt good considering the hills during the ride, but i could not control my breathing. I walked about 95% of this course. No more Florida races in August!!! Was discourage and simply exhausting.
What would you do differently?:

Need to run, run, run. Need to figure out what is going on with my breathing.

Felt defeated and gross. Just wanted to go home.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I suck at running. Starting a running plan this week and hope to make improvement.

Event comments:

The fog was rolling in prior to some of the waves starting. The event organizers should not have let those people enter the water prior to the lightening. Visibility was zero.

Loved the bike. It was over a bridge with a hill bigger than I've trained for, but felt ok. Coming back was a bit more difficult. Lower back started hurting pretty early, but pushed through.
