Run
What would you do differently?: Go out a little bit more slowly... but not much. It's a hard race, as the beginning has some steep downhills. I can never decide whether to freewheel them and risk wearing out the quads early, or taking it easier. Post race
Warm down: Grabbed some XOOD sports drink, then some more, and did a short cool-down run of 1/2 mile or so. Event comments: A Tucson tradition for 41 years and a magnificent course. 900 runners out there today, with about 250 of them doing the 5K distance. Great use of the Saguaro National Park. Parking is somewhat limited- so the streets are lined for a mile or two. Come early for a close spot. Other than that - it's a pretty casual event. Inexpensive ($30). The tech t-shirt wasn't anything special this year. Last updated: 2010-07-19 12:00 AM

Got up at 4am. Had coffee and a banana.
Got there way early ~ 5am. Pitch black. Picked up the race shirt and tossed it in my car.
Noticed that all the speed demons were warming up, while everyone else was standing around. So, did some easy warm-up jogging for a couple miles, then some short pick-ups to stretch my legs.
