Pre-race routine:

Arrived 2 hours early got a great spot in transition.

Plenty of stretching due to right calf strain one week earlier.

Exit T1 with bike, study enterance / exit for T2.

Swam great until we turned into the wind. Chop really threw me off.....started breaststroke and switched btwn free and breast the rest of the way.
What would you do differently?:

Practice on choppy days in OW.

Felt so much better once on bike.....but the swim took more out of me than I thought.


What would you do differently?:

Jog to rack instead of fast walk......could have taken 1min+ off.

Bike was much more difficult than my flat training terrain.

Lose the camelback, plenty of aid stations.

Take a look at course elevation prior and train for it.

This was a nightmare transition......racked the bike and the entire rack fell over. Set it back up and couldnt get the helmet off. Had to relax and tell myself to slow down.
What would you do differently?:

Dont know....someone must have done the same thing b/c the rack was soo lose.

Painfull....no legs left after that bike course.
What would you do differently?:

Train for the hills......Toledo is so flat that I will have to travel to do this (or just do flat course tri's).

Warm down:

Walked from finish all the way to transition.....if I would have stopped, the legs would have seized up.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Training didnt match the course.
