Lake Geneva Extreme Sports Series
Precipitation
Total Time = 1h 28m 22s
Overall Rank = 54/552
Age Group = 40-44
Age Group Rank = 4/53
Pre-race routine:

Arrived at transition right at 0500 and staged my gear. Walked back to the Abbey and had 2 PB&Js, and 1 cup of java. My swim time wasn't until 0725 so had time to kick back and relax. Surfed the net, hit the potty, ready to tri!!!!!

Event warmup:

None. Walked from the Abbey to the course. Was overcast with light rain
Swim
  • 07m 13s
  • 580 yards
  • 01m 14s / 100 yards
Comments:

Not so sure about the 580 yard default for the swim. Still learning how to swim at this point doing Total Immersion.
What would you do differently?:

Probably didn't need the wetsuit. The water was fairly warm but the outside temp with the light rain made the wetsuit nice!
Transition 1
  • 04m 37s
Comments:

Sprayed stuff called "Suit Juice" on my ankles and made the wetsuit come off much easier.
What would you do differently?:

Not take so much time during T1. Not sure why it took me so long. Next time will skip the massage and latte.

Bike
  • 51m 27s
  • 18.6 miles
  • 21.69 mile/hr
Comments:

While this is only my 2nd triathlon, the bike seems to be my strong point. Felt really good on the bike but also very aware and cautious due to the wet roads. Saw a few wipeouts
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Transition 2
  • 02m 15s
Comments:

Once again, should have been faster
What would you do differently?:

See above
Run
  • 22m 53s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 07m 23s  min/mile
Comments:

The "killer hill" wasn't really that bad, but it was unwelcome site to tired legs from the bike. Did a GU on the run out
Post race
Warm down:

T3 (race site to jacuzzi)
Now becoming really cold in the pouring rain after not running for about 10 minutes. Grabbed all of the crap at transition and got back to the Abbey ASAP and made a dash for the jacuzzi. Quite possibly the best warm water I have ever felt. It's 9AM- Corona's please!!!!!

Event comments:

Quite possibly the worst race shirt ever! Why even bother? How about don't include crappy prison issue sweatshirts and lower the cost of the race. Will probably see lots of homeless guys in Chicago eventually wearing these things...Great advertisement???!!!

Hawhawhaw,

Yay BabyDaddy, awesome race report.  Bums wearing race shirts?  Massage and Lattes in T1?  You are a funny guy.  Wanna hang out sometime?  Congrats on your first BT post Baby!

Love,

Yay Mr. Q! (I take it you are used to being called Doc.  But round these parts, you know your better half gets top billing).

Seriously, great race, great race report, and welcome to BT!

Welcome to BT, DH of Q.  And awesome race out there. You were flying on the bike like a witch on a broomstick in a rainstorm.

WELCOME TO BT!!!!!

You know, there's something to be said for doing T1 in style with le massage and latte. And good for you on the wetsuit ... people race for years and are still sack-hopping their wetsuits to try to get them off ...

Overall, super job on the race and great to see you here!

Ryan's right about top billing.  Your screen name should have been DHofQ.  Then again, with those smokin' times you're likely to earn some recognition all on your own.  Great job!  I'm going to use you as an example for my husband to try convince him to do a tri with me next summer.
