My baby sister vacations in Sharm el-Sheikh and had planned to be there this very weekend (along with her neighbors who are in Sharm el-Sheikh). Fortunately, she changed her plans last month when she decided to travel to Florida this year. I called her at 6am this morning (noon her time) and asked her not to vaca there anymore. Silly gesture maybe, but what's a concerned sis to do? My nieces will be getting many, many hugs when they arrive in 4 weeks.

Where's Sharm el-Sheikh ?

Edit....nevermind. Google cleared that one up for me.  Yeah, I don't think I'd go over there right now, unless it's with a company of Marines.  Shame, it looks like a beautiful vacation spot.

I can understand why your sister loves it there so much. I was there last year and I felt safer there than any other place I have been. There were tourist police on every block. The scuba diving is fabulous and it is a gorgeous resort town. It really breaks my heart to hear about the recent bombings and the deaths and injuries.

I am a hardy traveler. Jamaica during the 1970's? No problem Mon. Brazil at a time of poitical unrest? Did it. Detroit? Kidding. But I will not travel to Egypt right now, nor most of the middle east and that is a darn shame. Normally nothing stops me at all. OK I don't like some of the anti American attitude I have recieved in Paris, just because some Americans are bores does not mean we all are, but that is a bit different.

Really?  I thought it was because most Parisians are a$$holes.

And having been to Sharm el-Sheikh it amazes me that anyone would pay to vacation in Egypt.

I had a great time in Paris and the people were great. Guess it's a personal thing.

My sister sent great pics of the girls playing in the resort where they stayed. It looked beautiful. Also, they took camel rides and went to Mt. Sinai. They like to expose the girls to other cultures as well as simply enjoy a beautiful and historic vacation site.
