Swim
Comments: Started in the back of the pack. Had trouble passing swimmers on this course. What would you do differently?: I need to start at least middle of the pack. Starting at the back hindered my performance because I had to expend so much energy trying to pass. Also wasted a lot of time just waiting for congestion to clear by slower swimmers that started in front of me. Transition 1
Comments: Used rubber bands for the first time in a race and it worked out perfectly. They made for a quick transition. Sunglasses fogged in transtion. Stuck the glasses in my helmet and headed out of T1. When strapping in my shoes on the bike they fell out of my helmet while looking down at my shoes. What would you do differently?: I will not stick my sunglasses in my helmet anymore. Bike
Comments: Really felt good about my bike leg. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Transition 2
Run
Comments: Should have pushed the run just a little bit more but was worried about my over-use injury in my foot. Tried not to stress it too much since I have HIM next week. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: Bad positioning during swim start, over-use foot injury, held back a little since I have HIM "A" race next week. Event comments: I will do this race every year to support local events. Probably one of the safest races around since it's held on a military base. There was no car traffic the entire time I was on the course. However, transition security is very relaxed. Anyone was allowed in the transition area. They weren't checking anyone. None. Swimmers didn't have access to the water prior to race and I was trying to stay off my foot because of over-use injury so I didn't run.
