Pre-race routine:

Drove up to the race and arrived at 10:30. Unloaded and set up Transition before heading out on a mile and a half warm up with Brian. Afterwords we hung around and asked questions about the course. Also meet Brian and Mike to other racers who filled us in on everything.
Event warmup:

1-1.5 run.
Swim
  • 15m 31s
  • 902 yards
  • 01m 43s / 100 yards
Comments:

Good solid swim. Mostly breast stroke but I did hit the first 200 well with FS and rounded the buoys strong. The water was cold but I had my wet suit on so it was very tolerable.
What would you do differently?:

just swim my race and not get kicked in the face by coldfire :)
Transition 1
  • 01m 40s
Comments:

Long run from the water to T1. I also had trouble getting my suit off as it stuck to me for some reason. Grabbed the bike and started to run out to T1 when I was informed I had to run out out on the other side on the rack?? that messed up my whole route...oh well.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing just move faster
Bike
  • 56m 10s
  • 18 miles
  • 19.23 mile/hr
Comments:

For some reason I am having a mental block lately regarding my pace. I seem to hit it hard but not really settle into a good strong pace. I know I can move faster so I am having a hard time understanding why I'm not...the course was rollers and nothing too steep. The only thing that really made the course difficult was the massive headwind that all of us hit. I looked down at one point to see a 18 MPH on a flat...nice.
What would you do differently?:

Hammer, Hammer, Hammer...I can go faster
Transition 2
  • 01m 4s
Comments:

Faster...nothing really. In off the bike and racked my bike...same as before they wanted us to move around the T2 in a certain pattern so I had to adjust my route...their way was not the fastest in my option!
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Run
  • 32m 38s
  • 4 miles
  • 08m 10s  min/mile
Comments:

The run was a downhill for the first half mile then flat for the next half. After that you got to grind up a hill and then up another one before hitting the turn around at 2 miles on a downhill. The way back was nice with the downhills ending on a 3/10 mile climb to the finish
What would you do differently?:

faster
Post race
Warm down:

stretching...

What limited your ability to perform faster:

mental problems!!
