Pre-race routine:

Got up early, ate a banana and a clif. Nothing special, got ready as usual. Nothing out of the ordinary.
Event warmup:

Just walking down to the water was warmup enuf! Water level at Pleasant was low. It was probably 1/4 mile downhill to the water...
Swim
  • 30m 3s
  • 1640 yards
  • 01m 50s / 100 yards
Comments:

Best comfort level I've had in the open water. Took time to make sure suit was on correctly. Was navigation was poor. Ended up too far inside the triangle too many times. Wind was kicked up pretty good, lotta chop on the water was still manageable. Was kinda surprised how far back I was....felt I had made some headway over the summer in my swimming.
What would you do differently?:

Probably head out the weekend before for some OWS practice. Had been too long since I had done that.
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

Parking lot was way too rough for a running mount! Felt pretty good about the T1 today...
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Bike
  • 1h 56m
  • 24.85 miles
  • 12.85 mile/hr
Comments:

This was eye opening to say the least! Had never ridden in this amount of climbing. Tribal sprint didn't seem to be this much climbing.. and it was a sprint. My front brake caliper was rubbing on my front tire big time....no excuses 107th is 107th...lol!
What would you do differently?:

Be more attentive to my bike mechanics when I arrive at a race! Inspect it!
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

Felt my T2 was good!
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Run
  • 59m
  • 6.21 miles
  • 09m 30s  min/mile
Comments:

Man, not alot left in the tank here. Was glad I didn't have to walk. Saw a bunch of people walking on the run course. Was still not gonna give in on my NO WALKING rule I put into effect after my 1st triathlon. Kept my head down and just got my butt up those hills slowly but surely!
What would you do differently?:

Base, base and more base!
Post race
Warm down:

Didn't care at the time...hung out talking to Todd for a bit(phxphotog) while my great family was there to load up all my stuff for me. I was shot.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Not enuf base!

Event comments:

No aid stations on the bike course, my bad! I should've taken an extra bottle. Took alot longer than I thought it was gonna! met up with a few FCA members and talked with them.....This was a fun race race and very challenging. My biking is really lacking at this point with courses that have alot of climbing in them. I've gotta get out somewhere and gain more experience with climbing! This race didn't allow for a single mental break once! Glad it was this challenging. Only will mske me work harder!

Not like it would have made much difference, but I forgot to mention my chain popped off on the 1st climb out of the parking lot.....just forgot to add that in my report:-)
