Pre-race routine:

Got up and loaded Jordan's bike up. Woke Jordan and Matthew and got ready.
Event warmup:

Got Jordan and bike set up in Transition then went inside to get Matthew ready to swim. Talked friends and got a seat on the bleachers to wait until it was time for Matthew to line up.
Swim
  • 08m 36s
  • 400 meters
  • 09s / 100 meters
Comments:

Matthew (12) did the swim. He was awesome. He caught the athlete ahead of him in the first 50m. In all he passed for swimmers.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. Matthew actually beat my time from last year (i had a cold).
Transition 1
  • 02m 24s
Comments:

Matthee ran in to T1 and I took his chip and put it on jordan's leg for the bike leg.
What would you do differently?:

Evrything went smooth. There is a long run from the pool into the TA and then we were on the far side of the TA. We had a faster T1 then the winning relay team.
Bike
  • 45m
  • 12.4 miles
  • 16.53 mile/hr
Comments:

THis was Jordan's best ride ever. 12-13 mile practice rides he only average 14.5mph. He did a great job especially considering the long hill on Winterfield.
Transition 2
  • 00m 49s
Comments:

Jordan came in off the bike and I took the chip and put it on my leg. Had to get Jordan to rack his bike before I could leave. We had the 4th best T2 of 22 relay teams. It helped that we were very close to the Bike In entrance and I sprinted through the TA to the Run Outexit.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. We smoked it.
Run
  • 24m 49s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 08m 01s  min/mile
Comments:

I felt sluggish but it was nice having fresh legs. I think my cold was affecting me somewhat because conditions were great and I should have been closer to 24 minutes. I passed alot of people and no one passed me at all.
What would you do differently?:

Not get sick. Glad I didn't have to do the whole thing.
Post race
Warm down:

Congratulated my team on a good race, their first. Then we went over to the RTC tent. Donna, Dee and crew are amazing. They had a spread like you wouldn't believe.Everything an athlete needs to recover. The brats were the best part. Thanks Richmond Tri Club!

Event comments:

This is a great end of season race. Since I had already done it twice before I decided to do it as a relay with 2 of my boys, Jordan (15) and Matthew (12). It was great and the weather was perfect.
