Overall Rank = 55/141
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 5/10
Pre-race routine:

Got up at 4:45 and headed out at 5:00. Had to get there early to help set-up BR Tri stuff. Ate two granola bars and drank a bottle of gatorade.
Event warmup:

None, didn't get my wetsuit on in time to take a warm-up swim.
Swim
  • 31m 19s
  • 1640 yards
  • 01m 55s / 100 yards
Comments:

Fog on the water made it impossible to see the bouys. There was a small clock tower that I could see once I got about 1/2 way back in, but I hadn't noticed it before the race so I didn't know where the finsih line was in relation to it. Had to do breast stroke at least a dozen times to get bearings.
What would you do differently?:

Make sure there was no fog?
Transition 1
  • 00m 44s
Comments:

Great time for having to get a wetsuit off. Also, guy beside me had knocked my helmet and nutrition on the ground, Thanks for that. Hill out of transition makes it tough to get shoes on till you are down the road.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Bike
  • 1h 15m 53s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 19.65 mile/hr
Comments:

Road was decent except for the one 6-8 mile section that was ridiculously terrible. Thought my bike may fall apart. Knew it was there though. Headwind was blowing on the rough section on the way back. Felt like River Road where the wind always feels like a cross or headwind.
What would you do differently?:

Lose 10 pounds, ride harder, train more, have someone pave the rough section?
Transition 2
  • 00m 55s
Comments:

Slow T2. Guy beside me parked too close and couldn't get my bike racked easily. Slow getting my shoes on.
What would you do differently?:

Make sure I push my stuff over enough to command more space.
Run
  • 56m 9s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 09m 02s  min/mile
Comments:

My run has sucked all year due to lack of run training. More of the same at this race. Run was hot since there was hardly any shade. People were passing me left and right. Felt like everyone passed me, and I passed nobody.
What would you do differently?:

Train more.
Post race
Warm down:

BR Tri ice bath was awesome again. Jumped in within 5 minutes of finishing and stayed in for 15 minutes.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of run training and foggy conditions.

Event comments:

First year race that went off pretty good. Fog and rough roads aren't something that can be controlled. A cop turned around the first 25 racers too early, which was unfortunate. Race director is a good guy and will get things worked out for next year. Post-race food could have been better.

Hey,
Nice job!  I ended up in a small pack in the swim that got a bit lost on the final turn, crazy.  Between that and the train stopping us at one point.  Big Cajun Survivor Edition!
